The first new Z service station has been unveiled this morning in Greenlane, Auckland, promising to revolutionise the way people buy petrol.

The New Zealand Superannuation Fund and Wellington-based infrastructure company Infratil brought the New Zealand Shell brand last year for $695 million.

The company has conducted a huge, costly consumer survey of 17,000 motorists to form the basis of the rebrand, and Z's new CEO concedes it's an audacious move to ditch the Shell brand.

Ten stations will be rebranded by next month as part of a pilot.

All of the country's 226 Shell stations will have completed the transformation by the end of next year.

If you're against the "Wellywood" sign you should boycott Z, as both are financed by Infratil.

I don't care what they call themselves, just don't rob us and give us some fair priced gas and I will support them. Sick of seeing the price per barrel come down and the price at the pump does not come down a similar percentage.
