Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard is expected to announce this morning that she'll put her leadership on the line in a vote against the man she rolled, Kevin Rudd.

Two western journalists have been killed in Syria during the latest bombardment of Homs - the city at the centre of fierce anti-Government protests.

At least 40 people have been killed and at least 500 injured after a train packed with commuters slammed into the end of the line in Buenos Aires.

The UN Security Council has agreed to increase the number of African union troops in Somalia in a bid to apply more pressure to the Al-Shabaab militia.
