Fonterra Brands manager says the recall is precautionary

Fonterra is recalling two brands of butter after customers complained about finding metal in the products.

But Fonterra Brands manager Peter McClure says the recall is precautionary and there have not been any reports of injury after the two complaints of a fine metal object in the butter.

The products affected are:

  • Mainland Salted Butter 500gm, best before date of 10 January 2013 (Batch CV12)
  • Anchor Salted Butter 500gm, best before date 26 January 2013 (Batch CV28)

was it a Fonterra fine metal " gouging tool " that was found as opposed to a blacksmiths anvil . How could any metal object pass the so called quality checks ..... not as if you started making butter only last week for the first time...
