Ford, Holden, Ford, Holden, Ford, Holden – which is better?

A seemingly timeless debate that has no end in sight, petrol heads and supercar lovers will continue the verbose V8 debate until judgement day.

The Rock radio station can’t wait that long – so has come up with, what they think, could be a temporary solution.

The Folden.

Fed-up with the ongoing battle between their listeners over who is the mightier, The Rock’s drive show announcers Robert Taylor and Jono Pryor are creating a car from scratch, taking the best bits from both camps.

The idea was discussed on air last week and gained some traction after Big Ben pies offered to help get the hybrid vehicle on the road.

NZV8 magazine’s Todd Wylie is managing the project. He will listen to on-air discussions from callers and follow online voting as to which parts of which vehicle will make the Folden.

Driver of the Big Ben Pies NZV8 Holden Andy Booth is fairly relaxed about the collaboration; even saying it could be good for the country.

“This is a great peace-keeping initiative – bring the sides together. There could be a Nobel Peace Prize for this,” he says.

Public opinion is certain to be divided; one indignant listener has already voiced his disgust on air.

“You can’t do this, its criminal. You should be charged for crimes against the New Zealand motorsport community.”

The first stage of voting is already underway – the front section is the first to go under the knife.

Five Ford and five Holden options are available; from the 1966-’72 XR/XT Falcon, to the HT Holden.

Debate is raging on the voting website already, opinion divided about which car should be chosen for the front end.

“Andy” wrote: “Ford at the front for sure, that’s the only way it will work, as that’s the first half that people will see. So it has to be class.”

One Ford die-hard fan can’t even bear the thought of chopping up a Ford.

“I’d hate to see an XY or early ‘stang cut in half,” ‘Haydn’ wrote.

Holden should be at the front, considering that they have been towing Fords around for years.

What a shame you didn't come up with an original name for the concept ... Folden is a Bathurst Campgroup ... any motor racing enthusiast can tell you that ...
