France's knack to turn fate in their favour

Thu, 20 Oct 2011 7:00p.m.

In three days the winner of the Rugby World Cup will be decided. The All Blacks are the favourites - and deservedly so.

They've scored the most points and the most tries by a long stretch. They're number one in the world and have looked the most consistent of any team at the cup.

Their opposition, the French, haven't looked anywhere near as impressive. They lost two pool games and only just managed to beat a depleted welsh side in the semi-final.

But if you think all that means picking a winner on Sunday is obvious, watch out. The French have a nasty habit of turning expectation on its head.

How do they do it? Tristram Clayton goes looking for an answer.

Clearly the ABs weren't in a class of their own! The French upped their game and the ABs didn't play like they have been, but the ABs won, well done to the ABs for the win and congrats to France for taking it to them like they did because it could have so easily gone either way.

The current ABs team is in a class of its own, watch the French get smoked this year. 37 - 13 to the ABs.
