Tibetan monks pray during a candlelight vigil to support Tibet, in Taipei (Reuters)

Demonstrations to mark "Free Tibet Awareness Day" have been held in Tibet, Nepal, India, Japan and Taiwan.

The protests follow a spate of Tibetan monks setting themselves on fire as they call for the release of Tibetan political prisoners, and the return of the Dalai Lama.
