With big changes to their playing roster the Canterbury Tactix are aiming for major improvements in the trans-Tasman netball championships starting in April.
There has been a between seasons makeover for 2012.There is a new playing strip, a new sponsor, five changes in personnel and a new coach in former Silver Ferns assistant Leigh Gibbs.
Among the fresh faces are two English imports, both of whom played in their country's Fastnet win over the Ferns in November.
Stacey Francis replaces Charlotte Kight in the defensive circle, while Jo Harten is in for Donna Wilkins.
They say they have become a package deal but it is purely coincidental.
“It’s the best league in the world and the best players in the world so you'd be stupid to turn it down,” says Harten.
The challenge for the Tactix is to shed its tag as the competition ‘easy beats’. They have finished last for the last two years and avoiding a hat-trick is the very first priority. Not that this team is dwelling on past results.
Gibbs says the team has to work on the good things they did last year and be a stronger and better team.
Its first pre-season games are on this weekend where they will have the chance to show some substance to go with the style.
