Departing Warriors halfback James Maloney says he hopes the team can pull off a win this weekend – but not for him.
The clash with the Raiders will also be the last game for Warriors loose forward Michael Luck as well as utility Lewis Brown.
Maloney says he hopes the boys “dig in” for the full 80 minutes and give Lucky a deserving send off.
“It’s more important that we get a win this week for Michael. He’s given to the club 10-fold what I have,” he says.
They have a seven-game losing streak to break and Maloney describes the season as frustrating and full of what if’s. But he hopes the fans will still turn up to see off his retiring teammate.
“At the end of the day, there’s not a lot to turn up for,” he says.
“There’s no point us sitting here, trying to talk it up that things have changed – at the end of the day it’s Lucky’s last game and he’s bled for the club for seven years.
“If nothing else, get out and farewell him the way he deserves.”
Maloney leaves the Warriors to join the Roosters from 2013.
