Can someone please tell me why she's still in office? The pitbull has gone very quiet these last few months.... funny that.

add - I was at the meeting attended by Liz Tanielu who the comment was directed at. There were certainly statements along the same vein made that night. My point is.. this whole issue is unacceptable on so many different levels. We have a saying in Samoan..'e nonofo a tatou ma fa'aleaga tatou'.. It takes a Samoan to ruin a Samoan. I have worked with Litea in her capacity as a Councillor and former Deputy Mayor of Porirua, on community matters and mine as a resident. She is passionate, direct and outspoken. From my limited experience, I note points of view delievered with class and intelligence seem to get better receieved and listened to. Good Luck to All the Candidates for the Mana by-election tomorrow.

I was at the meeting where these comments were made. At one point I did ask Litea Ah Hoi to show some respect as she is a Councillor and a public figure. Everytime the National Mana candidate spoke or members of the public who seemed to support National party spoke, rude noises and offensive statements would be hurled at them from where Litea Ah Hoi and commrades were seated. They made it quite clear they were Kris Fa'afoi supporters. I am very disappointed at the lack of professionalism and 'pitbull' like behaviour I had the displeasure of being subjected to that evening. Porirua has a wealth of strong, educated, hard working and successful Pacific people who wish to endorse the same opportunities they had for our tamaiti (children) here in New Zealand. Some party's policies encourage government welfare reliance and 'hand out' dependency and lifestyle. Then there are those who provide short term - 'hand up' - life line support - and promotes higher student achievements, self sufficiency and employment as the way to increase wellbeing, opportunities and choices. Further to my disappointment, has beeen the bully like approach of the Labour campaigners. If you're not a Labour supporter then you're a dumb ass coconut! Who I vote for is no one else's business. Can I kindly remind all that it was a Labour MP who vacated the seat with a year and a half left of the term causing the bi-election which is costing tax payers up to $500,000. For the record, the term Coconut is not a term of endearment for Pasifika people - humor and public statements are two very different things. It is a term that came about through racist ideaologies against Pasifika people when we first immigrated to NZ. Same way the 'N' word came about for the African immigrants into America through slavery. From what I witnessed the context in which the statement was made had derogatory connotations attached. But, then this is just my opinion...
