A director of cult TV fantasy drama Game of Thrones is in talks to take over the Thor movie franchise following the departure of director Patty Jenkins.
Alan Taylor, who has also worked on The Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Boardwalk Empire and In Treatment, has emerged as the favourite to pick up where Kenneth Branagh left off.
Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman have all confirmed that they will return for the Thor sequel, which was to have been directed by Jenkins. She won the role earlier this year but recently exited the project.
