The Maui pipeline is once again supplying gas to the upper North Island.
Final inspections were completed early this morning, after which the pipeline under-went three hours of re-pressuring to ensure it was ready to resume supply.
Vector CEO Simon McKenzie says a full review of the situation will now go ahead, but that lessons have already been learned from the incident.
He says the last set of customers will be brought back on a little more slowly.
“The last band of customers includes the likes of thermal generators that use gas, and very large industrial customers,” says Mr McKenzie. “So to ensure the pressures and security of the pipeline remain, the have to be built on systematically.”
Mr McKenzie says he expects all customers to be receiving gas by early afternoon.
