Wellington’s biggest party of the year, the annual rugby sevens tournament, is kicking off in the capital this afternoon.
The gates opened to a sold-out venue at midday, ready for the first game to start at 1pm. The Kiwi team will be playing just after 3pm.
Fans have gone to all lengths to dress up, with the more keen sneaking in a few early drinks at the pubs this morning.
Organisers have prizes in an attempt to lure everyone in earlier without being intoxicated. Anyone trying to smuggle alcohol into the venue this weekend will be banned for the rest of the tournament, and that includes shared passes.
