This is just a joke, right? This is all just a big, giant piss take, right? I mean, I haven't stopped lafing, and chuckling, and giggiling to myself, in reading through peoples comments, about double standards, hypocrisy, homophobia treatment, ect, ect. End of story, the school has, and therefore has done, what is right for them, in their own eyes, to their own high standards, all perfectly within the law itself. In protection of their number one sole reason, why they are all there, in the first place. Right? For the teaching of their own students, in an hollistically safe and proper enviroment. And there it is. Their Students. Pure. Plain. Simple. Teachers treatment of such, for all sorts of "discrimnatory" reasons, has, will, dose happen. This is nothing new, under this Aotearoa sun, anyway.
Homosexuality and Christianity are not compatible.In a example situation , would ASH(Action against Smoking, and Health) be discriminating if they were made to employ tobacco smokers.Clearly in both situations neither would employ adversaries to their principles.
What happens if a teacher is gay and most parents don't want the teacher to remain? Do all the parents have to leave the school, or can the school fire the teacher?

As a ex student I am not at all suprised. MGS is a total pack of hypocrites. I was treated poorly the 13 yrs i was there and so glad i finnaly got out. its like a cult within that school. the parents are bigots and the children that attend are only worse. They all have their heads up theirs bums for the warmth. they judge you no matter what. Im glad everyone knows how crap MGS is. parents be warned.

A gay man cannot teach at a christian school bottom line! it goes against everything that christians beleive in homosexuality is a sin end off!
I am sure that the school has learned a lesson - the next time they discover a Gay/Lesbian/trans teacher in their midst, they will be sure to not say that the firing that will occur is for their being Gay.
craig young - not relevant. christians aren't perfect - they are still human. it is their acceptance of what they might be doing is wrong that sets them apart - the but for the grace of god stuff (we're all sinners unless we repent etc etc). an openly gay man is hardly gonna accept his sexual orientation is wrong now is he? also this school has a charter which is protected & is required to be upheld by the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act. this guy would have probably agreed to the values outlined in this charter when he accepted the role - breach of contract then don't you think? also interesting how the media are quick to say that another "christian" school - rangi ruru employed him. well they are not actually the same kind of christian school as i don't think they are even part of the christchurch christian schools network(CSN) and the NZ association for christian schools(NZACS)....there are the sunday christian type schools then there is the practicising christians ones. MG falls into the latter.
Gutted that I live in a country and work faithfully (as a public servant close to beehive) where this can happen, the only one blemished from this is Middleton Grange and the parents of its pupils. Don't get me started on the loss to the netball team! Nationwide shame on you Middleton Grange!
