A German tourist has died while on a guided walk in the Franz Josef Glacier valley basin.
Attempts
to resuscitate the 58-year-old man at the scene on the South Island's
west coast and then at the Franz Josef Health Clinic were unsuccessful.
Police are not releasing the name of the dead man until his family have been notified.
They are not treating the man's death as suspicious.
