The Wellington Town Hall has often been the subject of speculation when it comes to haunting and the paranormal.

It’s old, creaky and roomy, with a rich history dating back more than 100 years.

“I’m not prepared to step out and say there are ghosts, I just think that I’ve experienced things,” says paranormal investigator James Gilberd.

“I think the rest of the people in the group have as well. We still don’t know what those things are yet, and would very much like to find out.”

The group, known as Strange Occurrences, spent a night with unfettered access at the Wellington Town Hall trying to get to the bottom of the ghost stories that surround it.

“Strange things go on in there in the dead of night,” says city councillor John Morrison.
“Probably old councillors and forgotten mayors. There was a rumour going around that a ghost was going to stand for mayor this year.”

During their stint in the hall, Mr Gilberd says the group heard footsteps.

“Like hard shoes on a hard floor, like hard heels on a hard floor. But when you look outside the theatre, it’s carpeted and the doors are pretty near sound proof.”

“We had a number of events that could be construed as paranormal, however the evidence we were gathering would suggest that there are natural reasons for those events.”

sometime the dead dont even know they are dead, the death may of been that quick.. they still think they are alive, thats why they are not resting in peace..
some cases the individaul to stuborn to leave refuses.. when they were still alive may of had big ego's trying to re-live out former life/moment in time.. Every case varies depending on the investigation, based on the nature of the building something more like phantom of the opera story or worse before the place was put up how deep dose a person want to dig,

Hi James,I checked www.fullcodeghost.com and amazing what I have read and watched video of the people and ghosts..
I have experienced sleeping with Ghost where I can see clearly who it was, scary I say'.. My have had inviting the mother and child to my home since birth but the child never reached my house and died 7 years later, I went to funeral, I wore a scalf where I captured the little girl's spirits I can feel the child dancing around her mothers house, the Priest have been to her house to scared the ghost away, but the little girl is still in the house, I stayed over for a week and returning home with my grandaughter plus the little girl's ghost, as we were sitting infront deck of my house where my grandaughter yelled out Nan, someone is kicking me, about 4 times she yelled out, I new it was my friends little girl that followed us home because I asked my grandauther was it heavy footed or light footed my grand replied its light like a child is kicking me on the back..
I lived in a 100 year old house and find many things happenning and could be someone was buried here..I ask the little girl spirit to return to her family that she doesn't belong here, took me about a week to get rid of the spirits back to where she belong..
I have much more to share but this will do for now..
My suggestion for you is to gather a few beleivers in ghost to get ready for the next bad weather, where heavier thunders and windy dark days to sleep over or work night shift at the Wgnt Town Hall, and just maybe you will find what you are seeking for..Often ghost of spirits travel with the heavier whislling thunders to bad storm..You may all whistle through the night that often brings out the spirits.. Scary, scary..Looking forward to your research on the above..Thank you james, I know that I am not a nutcase but often see death threats in dream and it has happened in the past where death took place or about to take place..

I heard an unconfirmed rumour that the ghost in the Town Hall is the manifestation, at long last, of the Mayoral candidate being put up by Sir Robert Jones as part of his "Vibrant Wellington" local body elections in October.

Spirits are stuck in their own time, hence walking on wood instead of carpet. The person had lived through a time where the floors were wooden.

Hi Jan. Thanks for posting. From my research on the Wgtn Town Hall (see History page on the site www.fullcodeghost.com) the building was well renovated and strengthened in the 1990s and is quite sound, and also there is no record of any kind of disaster or accident in the building. We don't know that the footsteps were paranormal, or even that they were actually footsteps; something else could've made the sound.
You may want to have a look at the sitre mentioned above and post further comments, esp. as we will be uploading more thorough information about our findings over the remainder of this week.
Cheers
James

I do beleived in haunted houses or buildings from ancestors days.. Normally if Ghost are about means something they want to share or a warnning of some kind other from that the Ghost perhaps want you off the building or perhaps the building is too old and may colapse.. The foot steps you heard must probably from the people were trying to escape from the building and perhaps they were stucked inside with no escape, it could have happened or is about to happen? scarey scaring myslef..
