how would the residents of pakaranga feel about a powerplant dumped in their back yard,, this way everone one wins,, no pylons in peoples back yards, & ak can still keep their cellphones & laptops charged! oh no,, they dont want a power plant in their back yard?? ?!! the people of the waikato obviously dont want pylons in theirs!!! & richard, sell their land to the government,?, thats not a fix,, some people are happy with their property,, as it is! i say continue to protest, tear down any work they start! its Your land, you should have some rights!! maybe if it was maori land, they wouldnt be allowed to put the pylons there at all......

tom, napier - so? Auckland is the city of NZ that RUNS this country lol, it has more people, businesses and tourists than any other city. What's wrong with underground? Uh well who wants their property dug up?

auckland uses more power than the rest of the country and when they have blackouts it is because the rest of the country can deal with aucklands power needs.soon waikato will be soon known as auckland city 2.

Well Bruce they do have the option to quit moaning about it and sell their property to the government. What is wrong with underground, the billions it will cost to build already counted it out.

Obviously isnt under threat of pylons on his bit of dirt, and have it rendered almost worthless. And no, I dont live in the area. The govt will bulldoze this thru now, bet you. what is wrong with underground, the maintainence saving alone must make it worthwhile

The power needs of cities? Whatever. The power needs of Auckland. Meanwhile, we have to live with giant pylons in our backyard :)

And so it should. It's stupid that a few people can hold back the power needs of cities.
