Violent crime has been climbing since the 70's under both right and left govt's. As always certain people on here are quick to put down and blame labour when the truth is neither right or left has done anything effective in combating crime in this country.
From my point of view the higher crime rates reflect the fact that children are no longer taught right from wrong or concequences for thier actions while young and national has just proved that they don't really want to make a difference (smacking referendum) or they would start at the root cause of the problem. This new law will not change crime statistics at all but at least it will get a few murderers to serve the sentences they are given. Therefore i agree with it.

Sorry to tell you 'Oh Please', there is a federal three strikes law in the US. This means it covers all the states, but only for felonies.

Rabid Aliens are such a stuck record... in the last 9 years, in the last 9 years they keep repeating... lol what about when National were cutting back half way houses for the mentally ill and they all went on a killing rampage?

In the last 3 decades which encompasses both labour and National we have had escaped convicts, residivist murderers and rapists etc.

Please Alien time to live in the present.

Time for constructive new policies, is this it? I dont know, but from the same experiments done in america I would say not.

The associate minister of Justice was on radio quoting californian statistics, however with statistics we know that

A) it depends on who the report was commissioned by,

B) we dont know what anomalies were overlooked? ie: the wealthier areas of california have higher policing like beverly hills, hollywood etc which are a greater means of crime prevention and therefore influence the results.

Another question you have to ask yourself, if its so great... why isnt it law in all american states? because its for more radical groups? because it doesnt work as they say it does?.

Remember Jenny Shipley, all of New Zealand disliked her... should we relive the 90's as well since you cant get your head around the present day alien and whats happening today?.
