New Zealand claimed two more medals although gold remains elusive at the junior world track cycling championships in Invercargill.

Second place to Alexandra's Sophie Williamson in the women's scratch race lifted New Zealand's silver medal count to six while Auckland's Paige Paterson snared a sprint bronze.

It leaves the host country on seven medals with two days of competition remaining at the Southland Velodrome.

Williamson bagged her second silver in as many days with a gutsy ride but she was edged out in a photo finish by Australian Georgia Baker.

It was also a second medal for Paterson, who beat American Jennifer Valente 2-0 in the bronze medal ride.
