Luther's executive producer Neil Cross

Actor Idris Elba is perhaps best known here for his performance as drug kingpin Stringer Bell in the cult hit The Wire.

But it is his portrayal of Luther, a man on the other side of the law, that saw him win Best Actor in a mini-series at yesterday's Golden Globes.

Laura Frykberg went to meet the man who created the role.
