Two young Wellington golfers have teed off from Kauri Cliffs in Northland, on journey that will take them around the world.
Lawyers Jamie Patton and Michael Goldstein plan to play golf against each other every day for the next 12 months, as part of a programme to promoted character development in young Kiwis.
We're doing this for charity," Mr Patton explains. "We're doing this to raise money for the First Tee New Zealand, which is a fantastic crowd down based down in South Auckland. And what they do is they teach kids life skills and character development through golf."
The pair will go golfing throughout in the world, including in Australia, the US, Europe and Asia.
And having to confront each others every day, they admit boredom might set in.
The golfers say the important things about this event are the challenges it presents and their own perseverance to carry it through - in other words, to play pure golf.
