Those heading along to New Zealand’s last Big Day Out won't need to bring the plastic parkas, with WeatherWatch predicting good weather for the country's biggest music festival.

Festival-goers are encouraged to slip, slop, slap, and wrap, with a large high forecast to hold over the upper North Island.

With only a 30 percent chance of rain, the forecast for Friday is looking mostly good.

WeatherWatch predicts temperatures will be about average, with cloudy periods moving in from the west – and it could get very hot in the stadium.

A high of 23degC is predicted, but chief weather analyst Phillip Duncan says it will be well over 30degC in the sun and people should use sun protection and drink plenty of water.
