Music sensation Gotye has taken a swipe at Glee's version of his huge hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know', insisting the cast's rendition sounds "dinky and wrong".
The pop star, real name Wouter de Backer, became the first Aussie act to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 since Savage Garden hit number one with 'I Knew I Loved You' in 2000.
His rise to the top of the US Charts was helped by a Glee cover of the song, performed by Darren Criss and Matt Bomer on the hit TV musical series earlier this month.
But despite their version giving his track a boost stateside, Gotye was left unimpressed by their efforts.
He tells Australia's The Sunday Mail, "they did such a faithful arrangement of the instruments but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it's playing to you from a cardboard box. It made it sound dinky and wrong."
On the song Gotye is accompanied by Kiwi singer Kimbra, making her the first New Zealander to top the US charts since OMC's 'How Bizarre' in the mid 1990s.
