The Green Party has outlined what it considers the fairest approach to reforming the nation's tax system.
In the annual State of the Planet address, Co-leader Metiria Turei told those gathered in Wellington an overhaul is needed to end income disparity.
This follows the release of the Tax Working Group's recommendations submitted to the Government last week.
Ms Turei says the party is ready for reform, and a land tax could be an option.
“We will commit to supporting a capital gains tax that excludes the family home, and look at a package that may include a land tax,” she says.
Ms Turei says the party will not support for an increase in the rate of GST or a reduction in tax for the country's top income bracket.
