Metira turei has proposed a land tax. She has declared that there is "diparity" Rubbish. There is no "disparity. There are just lazy malcontents who spend their money on liabilities and not upon assets. Her idea of land tax comes from Karl Marx. His ways were implemented in Russia. Wow look what happened to Russia. Starvation, desolation and psychiatric depression amongst the very people the communists purported to bat for. And the comms ate and drank to their hearts delight. What liers.!! What haters of people.!

She will push for an equity tax and capital gains tax. What has motivated Ms Turei to advance these ideas. ? There are 3 things that have motivated her in her thinking. These are: 1. Envy- she is green with envy of anyone who has tried hard and got into property and saved for their retirement so thay won't be whinging to the government.2. Covetousness. she is so covetous of any successful, wealth creating person who also would have generated lots of jobs for other people through their land or through their property. Has she made any jobs.? Of course not. All she can do is pretend to be a hard- done by Maori, and manipulate the cobbled together "Treaty of Waitangi" so as to bully more money out of the diligent, but naughty "White man" 3. Hatred. She is motivated by hatred. Why? Because she comes from a family that didn't make it and all she can do is sit exams and get degrees but she cannot foot it in the real world of business people so she wants to cut them down with Land TAxes. She is plagued with hatred. And it shows.

Karl Marx; get out of our free land.

To cap it all off

James, all taxation should be attributable, that's the only fair way. The reduction of a punitive rate imposed by labour is a priority. Income tax is indefensible there should be only taxation based on spending, be it GST or duty(s). This way we and the country will all prosper. Even businesses should be left with all their net income to use for - say - further development (spending taxed) and job creation and the untaxed dividend distributed (the spending of the recipient provides the tax) Money saved by these recipients - as well as everybody else - will provide for their retirement, saving the need for the likes of the ridiculous super fund.

Social justice is the moral high ground but does it pay the bills? Once there was an activist for working class issues in parliament but she could not stand the heat or the injustices. It aint easy and it never will be. Maybe having someone who understands economics is the right person as leader and if it does not work we can rely on the other crowd and smoke grass and the problem will seem to go away.

Glad to see the Greens speaking strongly on social justice issues. If the government goes with suggestions by the tax working group we will be taxing the poor while giving the wealthy a tax cut. This is both immoral and bad for the economy(since the poor are most likely to spend any tax cut they get).

Can someone tell me who the Green Party are? Why should anyone listen to an unknown group.

I must agree with Quote:"The OTher Andrew 25 Jan 2010 10:11a.m. State of the Planet...Capital gains tax is actualy already here for property traders, what we need is enforcement of what is already in place."

I believe these tax reforms just create new smoke and mirrors to hide those making profits off renters while further hurting the middle class. The profits from this industry are there, all that is needed is the directive to collect it.

State of the Planet address??? Delusional, Laughable. In any case land taxes only catch the middle class who are already struggling. Capital gains tax is actualy already here for property traders, what we need is enforcement of what is already in place.

That would fit in well with their cannabis reform proposes...tax the weed? Fund the tinnie houses? Subsidise hydroponic education?

When will these wallies wake up to the fact that Govt, nor the rest of us (save the few loony left that do support you) couldn't give a damn what they bleat.
