Gull has today announced it has dropped its prices to $1.999 per litre at unmanned stations.

But it's not a major coup for drivers, as there are only six of those stations across the country.

The unmanned stations use a self-service system, with consumers pre-paying using their credit or debit card, before filling up.

The stations with the cheap fuel are in Botany Downs, Taupo, Palmerston North, Tauranga and two locations in Hamilton.

Petrol at the company’s manned stations will remain at $2.05 per litre for regular 91, $2.04 for its biofuel mix, and $1.44 for diesel.

All the major petrol companies dropped their prices in recent days, and petrol prices have fallen 16 cents per litre in the past two weeks, a fall attributed to the softening Singaporean market. Singapore is where most New Zealand companies purchase their refined fuel.
