HSBC is one of a few banks under investigation

HSBC, along with Barclays and Standards & Poor, is subject to a major investigation relating to anti-money laundering controls.

HSBC’s chief executive has described the scandal as “shameful and embarrassing”.

The bank has put aside up to $2 billion to cover its misdemeanours.
