A severe thunderstorm has swept through an East Auckland suburb this afternoon, bringing heavy rain and severe hail.
Manukau resident Bianca McDuff took one photo in the suburb of Dannemora and says it only covered an area the size of two rugby fields.
“We were hammered by masses of hail, the ground turned white and it looked like it was snowing,” she says.
MetService put out a severe thunderstorm warning for Auckland and forecasted the weather to move to the northeast later on today.
A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for Bay of Plenty and Waikato.
