TradeMe has become quite well known for having some bizarre items in its auctions, from Jesus on toast to the outline of New Zealand on an apple.
Now, a keen Hamilton inventor has created what is, so far, arguably the most interesting auction item of 2010 - a motorised couch.
Ryan Ogle, a keen engineer, enjoys beefing things up. His latest venture is a 'modified drinking couch'.
The neighbours love it. The whole street can't stop staring, which is why Mr Ogle has put it on TradeMe, saying this is only the beginning.
It's for "anyone who's after a good time", he says.
Mr Ogle is quite the inventor - he was reluctant to show off his messy shed, but eventually caved in. There's the ride-on mower with added grunt in the form of a drag bike engine and a brush cutter with a 2-stroke motor.
"She was probably flicking grass a good 4m onto the roadside," says Mr Ogle.
But he is proudest of his special chair, and the thing is, locals seem pretty proud as well.
Bids on TradeMe are currently just under $200.
