A couple found guilty of luring women into their car and raping them have been given jail sentences at the Hamilton High Court today.

Jason Lloyd Jones, 38, and Samantha Iti, 33, would offer the women cannabis and alcohol, lure them into the car and then take them to a secluded area and sexually violate them.

In February, Jones was found guilty of one charge of rape and one of sexual violation by rape, he has been sentenced to nine-and-a-half years.

Iti was found guilty on one charge of rape, and has received four years eight months.

Her sentence was given a reduction as she was considered an accomplice to Jones’ offending.

On another charge of rape against the couple, and a charge of indecent exposure against Jones, the jury failed to reach a verdict.

Three women in their early 20s say they were raped after accepting a lift home, and rape counsellors say the presence of another woman could give victims a false sense of security.
