Our beloved emperor penguin Happy Feet is somewhere off the east coast of New Zealand at the moment onboard NIWA’s ship Tangaroa.

The ship is heading south and Happy Feet will be released in three or four days at 51 degrees south near Campbell Island.

Click on the video tab to watch extended footage of Happy Feet’s journey from Wellington Zoo to the ship.

3 News reporter Charlotte Shipman has been onboard the ship since it left yesterday and she will report on Happy feet’s progress in our 6 o’clock bulletin tonight.

Over the last ten weeks, the penguin has warmed our hearts with his story of survival and we have joined him for some of his milestones.
