Hone Harawira has won the seat of Te Tai Tokerau, potentially bringing in more MPs from the Mana Party.

At the time of writing Mr Harawira is on 6701 votes, ahead of Labour's Kelvin Davis on 5998 and the Maori Party's Waihoroi Shortland, on 2574, with 96.6 percent counted.

The Mana Party is currently on 1 percent, meaning it is unlikely Mr Harawira will bring any other Mana candidates into Parliament with him.

The Mana Party formed earlier this year after Mr Harawira resigned from the Maori Party in protest over their alliance with National and position on the foreshore and seabed.

Mr Harawira has been in Parliament since 2005.

He makes $150,000- sure he'll help the poor; start by cutting your salary John Hatfield if you care that much. At least his mommy will be happy. People get what the vote for. He still owes NZ a 100,000 for that silly by election he created, but I'm sure that was whitey's fault, just like that motorcycle he owns and that harley davidson emblem he has his families name on is- oh the irony of this guy.
