The doctor who cut a rugby player's lip as part of an injury cover-up will have a formal warning over her conduct attached to her record for five years.

A General Medical Council disciplinary panel said Wednesday that the warning, which will be available to anyone seeking to employ Dr. Wendy Chapman, is "in the public interest."

Chapman has been cleared to resume practicing medicine despite cutting Harlequins winger Tom Williams to mask his use of a fake blood capsule to allow a replacement to be brought on in a 2009 Heineken Cup quarterfinal.

Williams' supposed injury meant a specialist goal kicker could come on to the pitch for Harlequins in the closing minutes of the match against Leinster, which held on to win 6-5.
