Rescuers evacuate residents from their flooded homes on a rubber boat in Manila (Reuters)

Widespread flooding caused by typhoon Saola is worsening in the Philippines with more than 50 people now dead and 270,000 forced to flee their homes.

The capital, Manila, has been the worst hit.

Officials say half the city's been submerged and nine people alone died in one landslide.
