Helicopter crashes into ocean at Rio beach
Tue, 01 Jan 2013 1:41p.m.
A rescue helicopter crashed into the sea at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on the weekend as it attempted to rescue a drowning swimmer.
Amateur video captured by a Brazilian tourist showed the helicopter plummeting into the ocean, turning onto its left side and quickly sinking into the choppy waters of the Atlantic ocean as hundreds of beach goers watched.
Fire department officials said the accident was caused by an engine failure.
The four onboard were reported to have only minor injuries.
