Jimi Hendrix was "murdered" by his close friends, according to Motorhead star Lemmy Kilmister.

The rocker has accused the late guitar legend's closest friends of neglecting him - and ultimately contributing to his death.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine: "Hendrix was just a sweet guy - to an extent, he was murdered by the people around him, because they didn't take care of him. They just didn't watch his back."

Hendrix was found dead in London in September 1970. He was believed to have choked on his own vomit, although the exact circumstances of his death have never been fully explained.
