A high-profile criminal has been recalled to prison for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine.

Sixty-three-year-old Dean Wickliffe was arrested on December 2 in the Bay of Plenty town of Maketu and charged with manufacturing the drug.

As a lifetime parolee, Wickliffe was instantly recalled to prison.

The Parole Board says Wickliffe is an undue risk to the safety of the community.
