Thousands of Hobbit fans from around the world entered an Air New Zealand competition to come to New Zealand to attend the premiere and do lots of other cool stuff.
Of the thousands who entered and had to answer a question about the airline's Hobbit safety video, only six were selected. But they were allowed to bring a friend.
Those lucky 12 people arrived at Auckland Airport on Sunday for six days of Hobbit magic, beginning in Hobbiton.
Reporter Whena Owen was at the airport to meet them – watch the video for the full report.
