Man charged with 48 sex offences against males

Taranaki man appeared in court yesterday charged with 48 sexual offences against males.

Peter Robert Jordan, aged 63, of Waitara, faces 19 charges of unlawful sexual connection against a male aged over 16, eight of unlawful sexual connection of a male aged between 12 and 16, six of indecent assault on a boy aged between 12 and 16, five of indecent assault on a man or boy aged over 16, five of indecent assault, two of stupefying a victim, two of intimidation and a single charge of threatening to kill.

He entered no pleas when he appeared before Judge Allan Roberts in New Plymouth District Court.

Jordan describes himself as a counsellor but it is not clear whether he is affiliated with any funded agency, the Taranaki Daily News reported.

Jordan was remanded in custody to reappear for a pre-depositions hearing on May 8.
