In Australia, a 12-year old boy has been arrested and held in a police cell for several hours over the theft of a 70 cent chocolate Freddo Frog.

The boy is accused of receiving the frog from a friend who allegedly stole it. Australian police say they treat receiving stolen property as seriously as the original theft.

The boy has been released on bail and has gone back to school.

Was the boy white or Aboriginal??? The Australian police have a bad history of mis-treating the native people.

Bloody stupid ^%$## !. As for keeping him locked up for several hours.... thats a no no!! And the justice system knows that 2! It makes me wonder do the Police go through the normal procedure and have an adult present with him while been questioned ?? Didnt think so... Not to say that I am supporting this 12 year old. His parents/caregivers should of been informed first and foremost because of his age! He should of been taken home and not left in the cell!He should not of been charged at all untill a Youth Court hearing has been set and prior to that is a FGC! I dont know how the system works in Ozzy.

Chocolate today, TV's and cars tomorrow, If you have something that you knew was stolen, your guilty. If you think that receiving of such a trivial stolen item is not a crime then you and your children will end up in jail one day!. Criminality is a state of mind, its learned by children from their parents or role models, simple really!.

How stupid is this, totally idiotic they're meant to be professionals for gods sake. I can't imagine what they'd do to him if he stole a rubber band,

Normally you take the child home to there parents, specially under age group where they cannot defence themselves..
The police should have it out with the under age childrens parents, that is our law, or has it changed..
