The Department of Labour is laying charges over the death of a senior zoo keeper at a Northland animal Park.
Dalu Mncube, employed by Zion Wildlife Gardens, was fatally mauled by a white Bengal tiger in May as he tried to clean the animal's enclosure.
A group of tourists looked on in horror as the attack occurred - another keeper was also injured, and the tiger was eventually shot.
The Department of Labour launched an investigation into the incident, and a high-level source has today told RadioLIVE it will be laying charges.
A spokesman for the department has refused to confirm what the charges are.
