A child's sports toy has been recalled after an accident in an Auckland retail store where a child's thumb was amputated.

People who have bought the Crazy Catch original version 2.0, Crazy Catch Wild Child version 2.0, and Crazy Catch upstart 2.0 are asked to return them for a full refund.

Crazy Catch spokesman Andrew Sinclair says the company is distressed by the accident:

Mr Sinclair says anyone who has bought a Crazy Catch should return them immediately to the point of purchase.
