Singer Thom Yorke turned up to the Copenhagen climate conference today – officially as a member of the press.
The Radiohead frontman is known for his pro-environmental stance, and decided to go after finding out that non-governmental organisations had been thrown out of the conference, a move he called "absolutely outrageous".
"They're the people who've kept this argument going when nobody else gave a f…," says Yorke.
Still, he is sceptical anything will come of the negotiations, saying, "It's a lot of uptight, middle-aged men doing the negotiations that need to see through their particular little spheres of self-interest and look at the bigger picture."
Britain's bill to cut emissions by 80 percent by 2050 also spurred Yorke's interest in the conference.
"The UK has kind of become, bizarrely, at the forefront of this. I wanted to see what was going on really, 'cause I've been reading the blogs for days, and I can't understand it… What worries me is that they'll get to the end of the negotiations and pretend that something's happened, when it hasn't."
The highly-recognisable singer had no trouble getting into the conference, but doesn’t expect to stay long.
"I'm here as a press person," he told reporters. "Can you imagine how they'd let me in otherwise? See how long it lasts before I get kicked out."
