Hackers briefly blocked access to the popular internet messaging service Twitter, steering traffic to another website where a group reportedly calling itself the "Iranian Cyber Army" claimed responsibility.

Users trying to reach Twitter early Friday were redirected to a webpage that CNN reported had a picture of a green flag and a message that said, "This site has been hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army."

There was no evidence the hackers are actually linked to Iran. Websites like Twitter and Facebook helped bring attention to the Iranian opposition during the country's crackdown after its June elections, with users posting minute-by-minute updates and amateur video.

Twitter later Friday posted a message on its blog that said its Domain Name Systems' records "were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed". The site says it will update with more details "once we've investigated more fully".

"This site has been hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army."
And similar 'notices' redirects.
This has been going on for several yrs now, web sites and servers all around the western world...maybe a reporter will get off their backside and do a bit more research into this.
There is a growing practise from web masters around the world who have had enough and blocking ips from counties and isps where these hacks and attempts come from
Turkey, Iran, Syria, Brazil, Korea, China, Eastern Europe...isps in Netherlands and USA...
Another issue is users of pirated operating systems and those users who do not run regular security updates...microsoft and Linux, and being compromised remotely
Sure some Governments are trying to do something about it, but at the end of the day it will be when enough web servers around the world say "enough" and basically isolate these countries and isps...their legit users complain, and the media finally wakes up and sees a printable story.
A couple major sites get hit once in while makes news, but 100s hit every week is not news worthy

Run a google for something like
Hacked By DarKHacker
And this only one of 100s or even 1000s of search variations.
Its about time reporter got off their butts and did some basic investigative reporting, rather than just re reporting the basic from reuters.
