Police in Auckland have been involved in a high speed chase on the Southern Motorway.

It began around 15kms north of the Harbour Bridge and the car, believed to be an older model Toyota, reached speeds of over 150kmph as it weaved between traffic on the motorway.

It is believed police brought the vehicle to a stop in Drury - more than 50kms from where the chase began.

Stupid really stupid. Crashes really dont phase me anymore because when a person dies in a motor vehicle inccident it will never bring that loved one back to our lives the way my cousin Anaru Toko Ahpene left. Pain still strikes my heart and i still grieve but i gotta let him go now. To the cuzzies that read this from kaikohe i love you's heapz and i miss you's. NAFA WAHT.

This is crazy, he could have hurt/injured so many other safer drivers between the point he was detected to drury? The police cars need electrical engine disabling equipment fitted on their front bumpers. I have seen this on America's Most Wanted show where they shoot this dart thingie onto the body of the car being chased and it disables the engine. That will cut short the chase. Use technology Mr.Police Minister.
