Thousands of partygoers have packed into the Waiohika Estate in Gisborne for the country's biggest New Year's festival, Rhythm & Vines.
To keep the masses entertained, a quality line-up of Kiwi musicians and international acts have taken to the stage for the festival.
"I think New Zealanders have got really good at doing festivals and so they're really starting to put a unique spin on it," says Rhythm & Vines DJ, Mikey Havoc.
Despite the copious amount of alcohol and fun already going down there, ushering in 2010 in some form of style is the all consuming goal.
Despite a big night of partying ahead, police say they have been happy with the swelling party population so far.
"They have been fantastic," says Senior Segeant Rodger Gray. "We've had 15,000 kids camped in an camp ground for four or five days now. And whilst they've been exuberant and at times excessive with the behaviour, there's been very little that's required us to bring them back to cool off."
And to keep the peace, police have also brought in extra officers from Wellington to walk the beat.
