All this week Sunrise is meeting the latest kiwi recipients of funds from Paul Newman's charity.

The man himself died at the weekend aged 83, but the work of his charity goes on.

Pillars works with the families and children of prison inmates. They got a grant of around $15,000 from the foundation this year.

The CEO Verna McFelin and programmes manager Karen Currie spoke to Sunrise.
