Should 'gay' lyric be banned in classic Australian song?

ooooooooooo-hah-hah-hah! changing the word gay to fun, is so gay.

Oh my goodness no the kookaburra is fine! Just leave him gay. And can someone please tell me when homosexuality was attached to the word gay and why?

Bloody ridiculous. We need to keep our heritage. Wouldn't want my kids going to that school.

NO ..... the word gay is part of the wonderful fabric that is the English Language

A lot of these arguments fail when you remember that the word was changed because the children were having fits of giggles whenever they sang the original. It's a pity, but teachers have to cope with reality. One wonders how they would deal with the line from 'The Student Prince' that goes 'Come boys, let's all be gay boys, For education should be scientific play, boys'.

If people like the teacher on TV didnt tell children what he thinks it means,they would be much better off. They dont care they love singing the song.....its a "HAPPY" kids song for heavens sake,,,,,

Rather than ban the use of the word gay, we should focus on silencing the obnoxious, dim-witted rantings of bigots like Carlos.

How about they just decide not to sing the song. or get permission from it's writer to change the lyrics. maybe we should go into an art museum and break off the breasts and penis's on the sculptures. or we could just choose to not go look at them and let a persons art stand as-is

The word 'gay' should still mean happy....and not a visit to 'clay-pit lane'. As a society, we should ostracize all queer deviants.
