It is Nov 4th and I live near Timaru, I often feel the earth trembling when I'm in bed at night, especially last night. Does anyone else feel this?
My heart goes out to all the earthquake victims, especially the elderly, I would hate to see my parents in a predicament like that, I too would love to help anyone, however my love goes out to my whanau who were badly affected by this, but most of all I think the rest of the country will learn a great lesson from this, and especially to honor and love your family closer, you never know when it will happen to you. Godbless you all
my 12th birthday was a week after the quake, one to remember but not a very good one evey one was all 'ahhhh'and caught up in everthing.
Its been a tough week for all of us in canterbury but we will all get through this and rebuild a bigger and better city i do wish to know why those prisoners were sent away why cant they be chained together and helping out i dont see any reason why they couldnt be sorting through the truck loads of canned food and items from food stuffs or shovling the streets of coarse this would have to be supervised but it would probebly be cheaper than sending them elsewhere
Is profitteering in a disaster against the law? My neighbour was told by Orion Power to call an electrician to fix their power-lines which were hanging dangerously from a power-pole that was leaning over 2 metres. The elecrician they called wanted $200.00 just to have a look. Is this what we are going to see from the trades in this devastating times.
I just received a phone call from a friend saying her employer had called them into a meeting and made them all redundant....funny thing is the business was one of the few in Christchurch not effected by the recent quake......what a lousy employer with lousy timing!!
As sorry as i feel for the people who live in our great city of christchurch, what with the devastation of our business's, loss of many many homes and terrified children who have no idea what is going on or what their future is going to be, and dont take me the wrong way, but now they know how my family has felt for the last year. yes it has been a year to the day, 4th sept.,since we were forced out of our home in hampshire st so often refered to as "The House Of Horrors". Well dosnt that say it all. We have been living a life of horror ever since. With all the aid being offered now to the victims of 'earthquake horror' it makes me wonder why our family was given no help from any of these official bodies, and still havnt. Was it a little too far out from election time. I dont know, has a year of stress made me bitter but i see no difference in that situation and this.
food prices have double in north canterbury today just the bacis sky rocked up, what next???
I would like John Campbell to look into what Ngai Tahu are doing to help finacialy to fix "their "land and to help "their" people in this time of need in ChCh......All of the millions of dollars they have made off their "reclaimed" land seems to be only available to a select few and when there is a crisis like this all of a sudden the Maori in ChCh are once again the responsibility of the NZ taxpayer with no sign of any contribution from their Iwi......very interesting don't you think. I don't see any Marae's opened up to help with the many homeless around the area. Wouldn't this have been a wonderful option to the Ngai Tahu people or would it cost too much of their money. An interesting story I would think.....
Shame on Foodstuffs NZ for not supporting it's Kaiapoi franchise!! One can't expect a local business to keep that many staff in jobs - but one can expect one of NZs bigger businesses to "make it happen". NZ consumers should vote with their grocery trolleys in my opinion Alan Wright
Mr Campbell early morning flight from Wellington to Chch on Saturday September 4 was cancelled because of the earthquake. I was to attend the 21st b'day of my nephew. So i had to post his present - a greenstone adze. Can you tell me and other viewer if the Post Office can deliver. How are the posties coping I would like to know. Will my present reach my nephew and when? Resuming postal deliveries would be one benchmrk of things returning to 'normal'.
