Hone has certainly earned his reputation as a straight shooter but, unfortunately he does it with his brain disconnected. His appeal is to a few people with chips on their shoulders almost as big as Hone's. Also missing is honesty which is a characteristic that he does share with many politicians. His hatred for John Key probably comes from jealousy over Key's power in politics. Hone has nearly no power base, only the adoration of the media and a very loud mouth. Our political system doesn't need him and he wouldn't be there without the media's interest in controversy.
