Horrific horse injury sparks call for fireworks ban - Video

I love fireworks and true pyros like me will never stop shooting fireworks no matter what. No petition will stop people, in fact, more people will try to shoot fireworks off if your petition is successful. I suggest that you try to control your horses better.

I love horses and I think people have the right to let off fireworks... just let your neighbours know!

We have had air bombs going off just about every night since 5th nov,some idiot thinks its funny to let one off every night at around 10pm,not funny as its now 28th dec.I've also had enough of my dog cowering under the table and running for cover in the bedroom.Total ban on sales to public ASAP,then we can all enjoy the controlled displays.

re Nicks comment about horses getting used to fireworks: Most of our horses are used in public displays and are fairly well exposed to noise and other scary stuff, one is a trained movie stunt horse and he is well used to explosions & gunfire etc. Even he was very frightened by whatever it was that the neighbours were setting off, it was like salvos of cannon fire & I would say the dBA levels & ground shock from it were a lot higher than those of another large public display going on at the time which was about 3km away!

I too had a similar problem with new townie neighbours letting off massively noisy fireworks! We had no warning from the people involved and had it not been for my other neighbour phoning me just before it was about to start, the result could have been much much worse. It terrified my horses badly and my heavily in-foal mare hit the fence twice and then she tried to smash through the gate to get away from it all. I was standing just behind the gate at the time, trying to calm her down... I say that fireworks should not be sold to the public any longer, the majority cannot now be trusted to use any sense when letting them off. Keep them for public displays only and give all the animals and firefighters a break. Its a rather silly waste of money and there are more than enough public displays to satisfy any pyromaniac!

I agree with Chris. People and animals and our relationship with them have become "SOFT". Cotton-wool them and don't eat pets ... where will it stop. I'm writing to my MP to suggest a private members bill to change fire-works sales to all year round as this would be a great commercial opportunity and good for our free-trade agreement with China

I will not listen to this. Banning fireworks is not a viable solution to this problem. Why doesn't the public petition to ban everything because there will always be something causing somebody a problem some way or another?

BAN ALL FIREWORKS FOR GOOD. FAR TOO MANY ANIMALS SUFFER.

We are hoping to get the petition circulation started by the end of this week, all going well. Unfortunately,we have to have names, addresses and signatures on the right forms with the right okay from the right people(THEY LOVE PAPERWORK)!!!
